Outgoing Board Chair Harry Richart of PNC said, “In the same way that our region’s success depends on collaboration, Commerce Lexington’s efforts require collaboration for maximum effectiveness - from its advocacy efforts to its many small business programs to events like the Kentucky Regional Tour and D.C. Fly-In to its leadership development programs, to the implementation of its strategic plan and more.

Jeri Isbell of Lexmark International, who took the helm as 2012 Board Chair, is the fifth woman to lead the Commerce Lexington Inc. board. She said, “Commerce is one of the few organizations that can CONNECT, ENGAGE, and ACTIVATE our business community. Much of our community’s success in recent years is due in large part to a variety of public-private partnerships, and that’s a common trend among top cities throughout the United States.”

Outgoing Board Chair Kim Menke of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, said, “Our 2010 theme of No Boundaries enabled Commerce Lexington to take that focal point to new heights. We not only welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Bluegrass for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, but we also hit the road as a group to places like Washington, D.C. for our DC Fly-In, Pittsburgh for our Leadership Expedition, and South Central Kentucky for our Kentucky Regional Tour.”

Harry Richart, regional president of PNC, took the helm as Board Chair for 2011. Richart said, “We’re at an interesting and pivotal point in the storied history of our community and region. The big question is how we sustain our momentum from the World Equestrian Games and leverage that success into even greater things for the Bluegrass. The Games showed us what success looks like for a community, and it’s our job to carry that success forward. I firmly believe that all of the solutions and creative ideas that we need to sustain our momentum are right here within our community.
