2012 Regional Tour to Highlight Ties, Opportunities Between Lexington-Louisville & Agri-Economics Success

In 2009, Commerce Lexington Inc. revived a long-ago tradition of visiting other areas of Kentucky when two busloads of political and business leaders from the Bluegrass Region toured Eastern Kentucky. The intention of what has now become the Kentucky Regional Tour is to listen and learn from the leaders in each of the cities we visit.

During these trips, participants hear from business and community leaders, mayors and county judges, and learn about their communities and the challenges they face with the hopes of identifying common issues on which we can work together and support each other in areas such as economic development and public policy.

The 2012 Kentucky Regional Tour presented by Community Trust Bank is scheduled for November 15-16. The trip will take us throughout the Bluegrass Region with an emphasis on ties and collaborative possibilities between Lexington and Louisville, as well as the success of our regional agri-economics sector.

Day one of the tour will start at Alltech’s Lexington Brewery and Distillery, followed by stops at Kentucky Community & Technical College System in Versailles, the Kentucky State Chamber and Kentucky State University in Frankfort, and a development tour of Louisville and an overnight stay at 21C Museum Hotel (pictured above). Day two starts with a breakfast featuring Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, followed by a visit to the new Jim Beam Visitors Center in Clermont, lunch aboard the Old Kentucky Dinner Train in Bardstown, and a stop at Equus Run in Midway.
