Since 1979, Commerce Lexington’s Leadership Lexington program has been cultivating Lexington leaders, producing more than 1,800 graduates from this impactful leadership development program. Participants of the program have impacted our city in areas such as public art, youth mentoring, business leadership, nutrition, healthy living, hunger relief, community engagement and more. The Leadership Lexington Steering Committee is proud to announce the new Leadership Lexington class for 2025-26 comprised of 54 individuals from a variety of segments across the Lexington community. The program provides participants with the opportunity to better understand our city and to prepare for the challenges it faces by meeting with and learning from today’s leaders. Leadership Lexington is an educational opportunity that broadens perspectives and allows class members to gain increased understanding of community dynamics and public issues. We are excited and thrilled to welcome the newest participants of this year's Leadership Lexington class, the largest class in the program’s history! This year’s applicant pool was stronger than ever, reflecting the growing energy and engagement of our community’s leaders. I’m excited to watch this exceptional group bond and grow together, tackle meaningful projects, and make a lasting impact on Lexington. It’s going to be an inspiring and fun journey, and I’m honored I get to continue to be a part of shaping the future of our city through community-driven leadership and projects.” The new program will kick off with an Orientation Retreat at Boone Tavern in Berea on August 7–8, where participants will focus on leadership development, explore their DiSC Assessment results, and select a group project to work on—chosen from proposals pitched by their peers. Beginning in September and through June, the class will meet in different locations around the area each month with a major program topic covered by knowledgeable speakers and panels, tours, group activities, demonstrations, and class discussions. Sessions will cover topics such as government, education, public safety, economic development, arts, equine, diversity, health and human services, and leadership development.
