 Since 1979, Commerce Lexington’s Leadership Lexington program presented by Community Trust Bank has been cultivating Lexington leaders, producing more than 1,900 graduates from this impactful leadership development program. Participants of the program have impacted our city in areas such as public art, youth mentoring, business leadership, nutrition, healthy living, hunger relief, community engagement and more. The Leadership Lexington Steering Committee is proud to announce the new Leadership Lexington class for 2026-27 comprised of 52 individuals from a variety of segments across the Lexington community. The program provides participants with the opportunity to better understand our city and to prepare for the challenges it faces by meeting with and learning from today’s leaders. Leadership Lexington is an educational opportunity that broadens perspectives and allows class members to gain increased understanding of community dynamics and public issues. “We are excited to welcome the newest members of this year’s Leadership Lexington class! The group of applicants this year was truly outstanding, demonstrating the passion, talent, and commitment of individuals who want to make a difference in our community. I’m looking forward to seeing this incredible group build lasting relationships, grow as leaders, and help shape the future of Lexington. I know this will be a rewarding and memorable experience for everyone involved, and I’m grateful I get to continue playing a role in developing leaders who are committed to strengthening our community,’ said Tyra Harbut, Commerce Lexington’s Director of Leadership Development. The new program will kick off with an Orientation Retreat at Boone Tavern on August 6-7, where participants will focus on leadership development, explore their DiSC Assessment results, and select a group project to work on– chosen from proposals pitched by their peers. From September through June, the class will meet in different locations around the area each month to hear from knowledgeable speakers and panels, take tours, participate in group activities, demonstrations, and discussions covering major program topics.
