Critchfield Meats Wholesale celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated, 53,000-square-foot foodservice distribution center in Lexington.

Joining Critchfield for the ribbon-cutting were Lt. Gov. Jaqueline Coleman, Mayor Linda Gorton, Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell, and Commerce Lexington Board Chair Carla Blanton.

“Critchfield Meats has always been more than a business—it’s a family tradition,” said Mark Critchfield, President of Critchfield Meats. “This expansion allows us to continue that legacy, while better serving our customers and community for years to come.” The expanded facility is located at 1685 Jaggie Fox Way in Lexington.

Lt. Gov. Coleman congratulated the company on its success. “This is not just opening a new facility and doubling production capacity — you are answering a call to help this community and our region by feeding our people,” she said. “That’s what Critchfield has done now for over 56 years. On behalf of the members of Team Kentucky who have a good job because of your work and your investment, thank you.”
“Congratulations to Critchfield, a beloved, family-owned and -operated, hometown business,” Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton said. “We work hard to support the growth of local businesses. Critchfield is a Lexington success story.”

Critchfield Meats began 56 years ago when Amos Critchfield opened a local retail butcher shop at 1400 North Limestone. After many years in Zandale Shopping Center, the retail side of the business expanded to Southland Drive in 2020.

Critchfield Meats Wholesale provides high-quality meats and foodservice products to restaurants, universities, and grocery stores across Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Tennessee.

The expanded facility enhances Critchfield’s ability to deliver a full range of products including fresh beef, poultry, pork, and a variety of proteins, along with dairy products, eggs, frozen foods, vegetables, spices, and to-go containers — everything needed to support today’s foodservice operations.

“Critchfield Meats is a shining example of the strength and resilience of Kentucky’s agricultural and foodservice industries,” said Agriculture Commissioner Shell. “For more than half a century, the Critchfield family has supported local farmers, supplied quality products, and created good jobs right here in the Bluegrass. This new facility represents a continued investment in our state’s future and in the values that make Kentucky agriculture strong.”

Commerce Lexington’s Bob Quick said the expansion will create new jobs. “Critchfield Meats has been a Greater Lexington staple for over five decades, and during that time its team has been bringing people together at their tables to share exceptional food from their traditional butcher shop and Family Market on Southland Drive. I am excited to congratulate the Critchfield family on the growth of their Wholesale Division, expanding distribution services, adding needed jobs to our community, and enhancing Kentucky’s agricultural and ag-tech sector.”
