PRESENTS:
Regional Delegation Visits Capitol Hill to Advocate for Central Kentucky
Central Kentucky business, government and community leaders participated in the region’s annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In presented by Columbia Gas of Kentucky on July 26-27, 2023. The two-day trip offered attendees the opportunity to meet with members of Kentucky’s Congressional Delegation, agency officials, Congressional staff, and legislative experts to discuss important federal policy issues impacting the region, state and nation.
This year, some of the region’s federal legislative efforts included advocating for legislation that will ease inflation and support pro-growth tax policies, creating a better business regulatory environment, increasing skilled labor through immigration reform, improving access to childcare to bolster workforce participation, encouraging regional innovation investments, addressing housing access and affordability, and supporting infrastructure investments in roads and bridges, airports, railroads, broadband, and electric vehicle charging stations and Hydrogen Hub networks.
The D.C. Fly-In is organized by Commerce Lexington Inc. and the Central Kentucky Public Policy Group. Comprised of business, community and government leaders within the nine-county economic development region of Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Montgomery, Scott, and Woodford counties, the members of the Central Kentucky Policy Group are responsible for crafting the federal policy agenda each year.
