Delegation from Fredericksburg, Virginia to Visit Lexington October 11-13 During Intercity Trip10/10/2023
The Fredericksburg (Virginia) Regional Chamber of Commerce will take 50 representatives from regional businesses, education organizations, government, and nonprofits to Lexington on October 11-13. This community-building intercity visit will provide great opportunities to examine what other cities and regions are doing well and look inward at how we can improve the Fredericksburg region. Chamber President, Susan Spears, said, “This trip will focus on the best of Lexington’s tourism, workforce, and education initiatives. We will hear about Commerce Lexington’s successful approach to regionalism. This trip will allow us to grow relationships that will strengthen our regional economy upon our return. In the upcoming months, leaders will convene to discuss the next steps for multi-faceted success throughout Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline, and Fredericksburg.”
During the trip, participants will visit the Toyota Manufacturing Facility, Keeneland Racecourse, and The Academies of Frederick Douglas High School. The group will also learn about the Kentucky Workforce Talent Pipeline with a focus on how to reverse engineer the talent pipeline to attract, retain and create the workforce of today and tomorrow. The Bluegrass Alliance panel discussion will focus on regional cooperation and enhance economic development efforts. Commerce Lexington will host the group’s panel discussions on workforce, tourism and education. Commerce Lexington has used a variety of tools to understand the root causes of their workforce shortages and because of this the region has united major stakeholders to collaborate to solve shared challenges around workforce and education. Commerce Lexington Inc. President and CEO, Bob Quick, said, “We are excited to welcome Fredericksburg leaders to Lexington this week. Our organization has been leading our own intercity visits across the country for 80-plus years, and we look forward to telling Lexington’s story of success and interacting with the participants.” About The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce: The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber is the diverse business hub for the fastest growing region in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
